Two Years Without a 9–5. A Business Journey Worth Sharing.

On 31 October 2024, I worked my last regular 9–5 job in the UK.

What followed wasn’t an overnight success story. It was two years of trying different things, learning new skills, making mistakes, and gradually building a business of my own.

From Vinted and eBay to dropshipping, China sourcing, Shopify and pop-up markets, I’ve learned what it takes to navigate different selling channels. And through it all, I’ve been raising my daughter.

I wanted to be present for her while continuing to pursue something meaningful for myself. Motherhood & Markets is where I’m bringing those experiences together to help other mothers understand how to begin.

October 2024 to October 2026

  • 31 Oct 2024: last regular 9–5 in the UK
  • Since then: Substack, YouTube, eBay and Shopify dropshipping, TikTok Shop
  • Sourcing: China suppliers, agents, air and sea freight, UK wholesalers
  • Resale and making: Vinted, eBay, vintage clothing, upcycling
  • In person: pop-up markets with SumUp payments
  • 31 Oct 2026: two years on, with a free live masterclass

What you’ll cover

Pre-loved fashion reselling (Vinted and eBay)
Choosing products, researching demand, assessing condition, photography, listings, pricing, buyer enquiries, packing, returns, platform rules, and tracking revenue against costs. Commercial resale must comply with platform policies.
Wholesale sourcing and vintage stock
Finding and vetting UK wholesalers, clothing grades, cost per item, inspecting stock, repairs and upcycling, slow-moving stock, and margins. No bundle is guaranteed to be profitable.
eBay dropshipping
How the model works, private versus business selling, product research, supplier due diligence, listings, shipping, returns and profit calculations. Includes eBay’s restrictions on retail-arbitrage dropshipping and why compliant wholesale arrangements matter.
Shopify and online store development
Setup, domains, themes, product pages, basic SEO, payments, shipping and returns settings, and running costs. Shopify provides store infrastructure, not customers.
UK suppliers and private label
Researching wholesalers, fulfilment models, dropshipping versus bulk buying, minimum orders, packaging and quality control. Regulated categories (supplements, food, cosmetics, some wellness products) need extra compliance checks; supplier certification does not automatically allow relabelling or resale.
Mini China importation
Supplier research, sourcing agents, quotations, samples, air and sea freight, customs, import VAT and duties, product compliance, and calculating landed costs.
Pop-up selling and SumUp
Finding events, choosing stock, pricing, merchandising, taking payments with SumUp, stock tracking and event cost calculations, with the founder’s two-day pop-up as an optional case study.
Building a business around motherhood
Choosing a realistic model, working around school schedules, batching tasks, budgeting, repeatable workflows and avoiding overcommitment. Realistic planning, not guaranteed flexibility or passive income.

Individual courses

Prefer to start with one pathway? Individual courses are proposed below. Individual buyers do not automatically receive the same live sessions, community or support as the full programme; this will be set out on each course page.

Questions, answered honestly

Is this suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The masterclass and programme start from the basics, with no existing business needed.
Do I need a lot of startup capital?
Different models need different budgets, and the training covers costs and risks so you can decide before spending. Some selling starts with items you already own.
Can I learn while caring for my children?
Sessions are live online. [Recording policy to be confirmed]
Is the masterclass really free?
Yes. No payment is needed. An optional paid programme is introduced during the session.
Is the £99 programme live or prerecorded?
Live and instructor-led: four sessions of about two hours, plus downloadable resources and a private student WhatsApp community. Details are proposed until confirmed.
Do you guarantee I will make money?

No business can guarantee sales or profits, and results will vary depending on your effort, product selection, pricing, market conditions and how you apply what you learn.

However, the strategies taught in Motherhood & Markets are based on practical experience, not theory alone. I’ve personally guided beginners who went on to make their first eBay sales on the same day they learned the process.

My goal is to teach you practical, repeatable methods for finding products, setting up your selling channels and positioning your listings to attract buyers. You’ll leave with actionable knowledge and a clearer understanding of how to start.

Can I join from outside the UK?
Yes, though suppliers, platform rules, taxes, import obligations and eligibility differ by country, and some material is UK-specific.
Do I need permission to be self-employed in the UK?
It depends on your circumstances. UK visa conditions may restrict self-employment, so please confirm your own eligibility before starting.
What are eBay’s dropshipping rules?
eBay restricts retail-arbitrage dropshipping, so compliant wholesale supplier arrangements matter. This is covered in the eBay module.
What is the refund policy?
